Mayor Watson at Inuuqatigiit

Jim Watson, Mayor of Ottawa, on November 16, 2012, met with the children at the Inuuqatigiit Centre for Inuit Children, Youth and Families in Ottawa. During his visit, Watson observed Meeka Arnakaq of Pangnirtung as she lit a qulliq and listened to some of the children at the centre throatsing.
When the children were asked afterwards if they knew who the mayor was, one child yelled out “he’s the boss of the city!”
