Inunnguiniq Parenting Program
This 20 week program is a parenting support and intervention program that is based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (that which we have always known) which concentrates on the wisdom, skills and ways Inuit have had for a very long time.
INUNNGUINIQ: means ‘making of a human being’ and refers to the traditional wisdom of Inuit child-rearing practices.
The Inuuqatigiit Centre’s parenting program offers services for parents/guardians of Inuit children including:
• Women’s Healing Circles;
• Men’s Group;
• Inuit focused Parenting Workshops;
• Parent Counselling; and
• Home Visits.
The parenting program is culturally specific and respects the parenting styles and needs of parents/guardians raising Inuit children in an urban setting. The focus is to provide services parents/guardians want and need to so they can raise confident, capable, and proud Inuit children.
Registration is required. *Meals, bus tickets and child care are provided.
